This page explains what happens to your details when you subscribe to The Interval, and the terms for reading and sharing it. It's written to be read, so it's short.
Who I am. The Interval is written and published by Chris Cooper. I'm responsible for your personal data. You can contact me at [email protected]
What I collect. Your email address when you subscribe. beehiiv, the service that sends the newsletter, also records whether emails are opened and links clicked, and basic information about visits to this site.
Why. To send you The Interval, to see which issues and topics are most useful so I can improve it, and to keep the site working and secure. I rely on the consent you give when you subscribe. I won't sell your details or share them with anyone for their own marketing.
Who else handles it. beehiiv hosts this site, keeps the subscriber list and sends the emails on my behalf. beehiiv is based in the US, so your details may be stored there, under safeguards for transfers of UK personal data.
How long I keep it. For as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, I stop emailing you, and beehiiv keeps a record of your address so you aren't emailed again by mistake. I'll delete your details completely if you ask.
Your choices. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. You can also email me to see, correct or delete the data I hold about you, to ask for a copy of it, or to ask me to restrict or stop using it. Deletions and copies of your data are carried out through beehiiv, the service that holds the subscriber list, and you can also contact them directly at [email protected]. If you have a concern, tell me first and I'll aim to reply within a month. If you're still unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies. This site uses cookies it needs to work and, with your permission, cookies that show how it's used. You can change your choice at any time.
Not advice. The Interval is general information about UK shoppers. Nothing in it is financial, investment, legal or other professional advice, so please don't rely on it alone when making decisions.
Personal views. The Interval is written in a personal capacity. The views in it are my own and don't represent any employer or client.
Accuracy. I check figures against their sources and link to them, but data gets revised and mistakes happen. If you spot one, tell me and I'll correct it.
Sharing and sources. The writing and charts in The Interval are mine. You're welcome to quote and share them with a credit and a link. Data from other organisations belongs to them and is credited wherever it's used.
Links. Issues link to other websites. I'm not responsible for what's on them.
Changes. I may update this page from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
